Magnificent Casserole Mon, 09 February 2004 00:50
2 pounds Lean Ground Beef
8 ounces Cream Cheese
1 tablespoon Green Pepper -- minced
1/2 cup Sour Cream
1/2 cup Swiss Cheese -- grated
8 ounces Egg Noodles -- (package)
1 pound Cottage Cheese
1/3 cup Green Onion -- chopped
2 cups Tomato Sauce
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
salt to taste

In a large pan, cook noodles in boiling, salted water until tender. Drain & set aside. In a large bowl, mix together cream cheese, cottage cheese and sour cream. Add onion and peppers. Set aside. Brown ground beef & drain any fat. Add tomato sauce, minced onion, garlic, garlic powder and onion powder to ground beef. Simmer for 30 minutes to combine flavors.

Grease 9 x 13 inch cake pan or casserole dish, and arrange the following layers: Noodles, cheese mixture, meat mixture - then repeat. Top with grated Swiss cheese.

To Freeze: Freeze in freezer/oven safe dish.

To Reheat: From defrosted, bake at 375 for 30 minutes. From frozen, bake at 375 for 1 hour or until heated through.

Not bad, but the flavor was really bland...not sure what you could add to give it more flavor.

Okay, so I rated this higher than it deserved simply because I think we can make it really tastey with some slight modifications. It's a lot like our favorite Linguine with meat sauce.

Since I'd seen Tessa's comments, when I made the casserole, I added garlic and onion powder and a little salt. This actually helped a lot!

There are some very obvious things missing from this recipe...like garlic, regular onion and seasonings! I'm going to add some extra ingredients and some alternate directions in red. Let's try that next time and see how it goes! And please! If you have any ideas or think I'm off track, let me know! Make sure you re-review after we re-try this recipe!
